Blinds Child Safety

Child Safety Recommendations for Internal Shading Systems

In areas where children live or play, we recommend the following solutions to prevent accidents:

Cordless & Chain-Free Systems
These systems eliminate the risk of entanglement entirely:

  • Spring-loaded Roller Blinds: Operate via a spring mechanism rather than a cord.
  • Perfect Fit Systems: Roller, Venetian, or Pleated blinds that snap directly into the window frame without hanging cords.
  • Sliding Panels with Wand Control: Large fabric panels moved manually using a rigid wand.
  • Vertical Blinds with Wand Control: Replaces the traditional chain/cord loop with a single wand for tilting and drawing.
  • Motorized Systems: Fully automated internal shading operated by remote or smart home controls.
  • Curtain Rails: Manual, wand-operated, or motorized tracks.

Safety Guidelines for Corded or Chained Systems
If the use of cords or chains is unavoidable, please adhere to the following safety standards:

  • Height Clearance: The bottom of the cord loop or chain must be at least 150cm above floor level.
  • Furniture Placement: Move cribs, beds, and other furniture away from windows. Children can climb on furniture to reach cords.
  • Avoid Loops: Do not tie cords together and ensure they do not become tangled, as this can create a hazardous loop.

Required Safety Accessories
Always install one of the following safety devices to secure loose cords:

  • Cord Tidy (NW30258)
  • Easy-Break Connectors
  • Cord Safety Tassels
